Current Events Summery 5!

Foreign Relations

In recent news china has come to new developments in its situation with India due to the claiming of Arunachal Pradesh, an Indian State as it's own. China has decided to allow a visa to be given to Marpe Sora, a professor from Arunachal's capital Itanagar. Many are hopeful that this is the beginning of China finally accepting Arunachal as part of Indian and not possessed by China itself.
China has also faced even more problems with the need to recall cans of toxic meat. This event is just one in a long line it seems of products that have needed to be recalled. These products are being exported to countries in Europe and the United states and this year large amounts of toys, tyers, and food have been recalled from the American Market. The government is now facing much pressure to insure safety in these Chinese made products due to increasing international concern. This has lead to steps such as trying to introduce a product recall system similar to the kind that the United States and many other countries currently have. Speculation still remains if a real deference can be archived in this matter. In more favorable news a planed bridge from Vietnam to China is now planed to be built with hopes to be up in 2012. This highway is set up to allow drivers to be able to make the journey from Hanoi, Vietnam to China in only one day. This extreme cut down in time will hopefully yield a resulting boast in the struggling economy in the north-west region in Vietnam. This bridge will show an increase in Vietnam ability to export goods like agricultural products to China. This bridge show be mutually beneficial as Chinese exporters will then experience a faster route to global markets. China is also remembering the Nanjing massacre. This occurred 70 years ago when Japanese soldiers killed 300,000 Chinese civilians, if Chinese this particular number is to believed, though the Japanese government claims that this figure is untrue. This has brought up some on going conflict between the citizens of the two counties. Some citizens wish for Japan to admit what they did while some citizens are frustrated with the dragging up of past events. Trade between the United states and China has suffered tension recently due to talks about how to lower Chinas trade surplus and stop the countries growing interdependence. Talks would center around China keeping the value on the yuan undervalued giving Chinese exports an unfair advantage. Both sides seem to still be deal with what to do with the China-US trade imbalance. China and Vietnam's dispute about the ownership of the Spartly and Paracel islands lead to a protest by several hundred Vietnamese citizens out side the Chinese Embassy. This tension is caused by the two countries both claiming ownership of these two islands that are quite valuable due to there large amount of oil and natural gas reserves. Other countries such as Taiwan and the Philippians also claim sovereignty over the islands. This had been an ongoing source of conflict for several years and is the driving force of many protest.
